Out of Hours Dental Care in Central London
Dental problems don't always happen during office hours. Whether you develop a toothache in the evening, chip a tooth over the weekend, or simply cannot take time off work for a dental appointment, finding a dentist outside normal hours can be challenging in London.
At South Kensington Medical & Dental, we understand this. That is why we are open 7 days a week, including extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (until 8pm) and both days of the weekend (10am–4pm). Our clinic at 20 Old Brompton Road is directly next to South Kensington Tube Station.
We offer both emergency and routine dental care during all opening hours — there is no reduced service in the evenings or weekends. You will see the same experienced, GDC-registered emergency dentists regardless of when you attend.
When Can You See Us?
Late Evening Appointments
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we remain open until 8pm — well after most dental practices have closed. These evening slots are popular with working professionals who cannot attend during the day.

We are open on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Whether you have a dental emergency or simply prefer a weekend appointment for routine care, we have availability.

Managing a Dental Problem Until Your Appointment
If you cannot be seen immediately, these general self-care measures may help. They are not a substitute for professional dental care.
Toothache
Take over-the-counter pain relief such as paracetamol or ibuprofen (following the packet instructions and any advice from your pharmacist). Avoid very hot, cold, or sweet food and drink.
Facial swelling
A cold compress held against the cheek can help. If swelling affects your eye, breathing, or swallowing, this is a medical emergency — call 999 or attend A&E.
Knocked-out adult tooth
Handle the tooth by the crown, not the root. If clean, try to reinsert it gently and bite on a clean cloth; otherwise store it in milk and see a dentist as soon as possible.
Lost filling or crown
Keep the crown safe if you have it. Avoid chewing on that side and keep the area clean until your appointment. Temporary repair kits from a pharmacy can help short-term.
Bleeding after an extraction
Bite firmly on a clean gauze or cloth for 15–20 minutes. If bleeding does not stop, contact us or call NHS 111.
When to seek urgent medical help: facial swelling affecting your eye, breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding, or trauma with loss of consciousness require A&E or 999 — not a dental appointment.

Emergency Root Canal & Crown for Severely Fractured Front Tooth

The patient presented with a front tooth fractured almost halfway, extremely sensitive and painful. After emergency root canal treatment, a fibre post was placed and a custom crown fitted to fully restore strength and appearance.
The adjacent chipped tooth was repaired with composite edge bonding. Both teeth were subtly reshaped for a balanced, natural-looking result.
