Private Mpox (Monkeypox) Test in London
South Kensington Medical & Dental provides private Mpox virus testing at our CQC-registered clinic. This PCR-based test detects Mpox (formerly monkeypox) virus DNA from lesion swabs, providing accurate diagnosis of suspected Mpox infection.
Testing uses a simple sample, with results available within a few working days.
No GP referral is required. Swabs are collected from active skin lesions. All samples are analysed at UKAS-accredited laboratories with results communicated confidentially.
About Mpox
Mpox is a viral infection caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus. The 2022 global outbreak primarily affected men who have sex with men (MSM). Mpox causes a characteristic vesicular/pustular rash, often accompanied by fever, lymphadenopathy, and systemic symptoms.
Transmission occurs through close physical contact, including sexual contact, with skin lesions or bodily fluids of an infected person. Vaccination (MVA-BN/Jynneos) is available for eligible individuals. Most cases are self-limiting, but antiviral treatment may be considered for severe cases.
