Private Herpes Simplex Testing in London
South Kensington Medical & Dental offers private testing for HSV-1 and HSV-2 at our CQC-registered clinic. We provide both blood-based antibody testing and PCR swab testing for active lesions.
This test uses a venous blood sample, with results available within 2 days. The test is priced at £91 (includes £50 phlebotomy fee). PCR swab testing is recommended for active lesions, while blood antibody testing screens for past or established infection.
No GP referral is required. All samples are analysed at UKAS-accredited laboratories. Results are communicated confidentially through our secure patient portal.
About Herpes Simplex Virus
Herpes simplex virus exists as two types: HSV-1 (traditionally oral) and HSV-2 (traditionally genital), though either type can infect either location. Both types establish lifelong latent infection in nerve ganglia and can reactivate periodically.
