CEA Test (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) – Private Testing in London
The CEA Test (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) is available at South Kensington Medical and Dental, our CQC-registered clinic in South Kensington, London SW7. Please see the price displayed on this page for current pricing. It requires a venous blood sample. A £50 phlebotomy fee applies per visit for blood collection.
CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen) is a protein that may be elevated in colorectal cancer and several other malignancies. It is also raised in some benign conditions and in smokers.
Who Should Consider the CEA Test (Carcinoembryonic Antigen)?
Patients with diagnosed colorectal cancer for treatment monitoring and post-operative surveillance. Those being investigated for suspected gastrointestinal malignancy or cancer of unknown primary.
CEA is not suitable as a screening test for cancer in the general population due to limited sensitivity and specificity. Its primary role is monitoring known colorectal cancer for recurrence.
A trained nurse collects the blood sample by standard venepuncture, a straightforward procedure that typically takes around five minutes. Our clinic is on Old Brompton Road, directly opposite South Kensington tube station (Piccadilly, Circle, and District lines). No GP referral is needed — book online or call 020 7183 2362.
