Our clinic offers a comprehensive full blood screening, including a test to measure your iron levels. Maintaining a healthy iron profile is vital for overall well-being. Iron plays a key role in blood production, with approximately 70% of the body’s iron stored in haemoglobin (red blood cells) and another 25% stored as ferritin in cells.
Naturally, women store about a third less iron compared to men. This makes them more prone to iron deficiency or anaemia when these reserves are depleted.
If you suspect iron deficiency or need a blood test, book an appointment with us at your convenience and avoid the hassle of waiting at a walk-in center.
The GP may recommend an iron profile test if you have anaemia or iron deficiency symptoms. These conditions are often linked to blood loss, such as through the gastrointestinal tract or lengthy heavy menstrual periods.
In addition, you may choose to undergo the test independently as part of a routine check-up to assess your iron profile.
The iron profile involves a blood test to evaluate your iron levels.
During the iron profile, a doctor or nurse will gently insert a needle into the inner arm, around the elbow, and take a small blood sample.
Once your results are ready, you will receive an email. If a doctor at our clinic suggests the test, they will call you to inform you of the results. However, if you haven’t consulted with us, you can take the results to your consultant or book a follow-up consultation at our clinic.
